Kirtans and Music

Sacred Music at Ananda

It is often said that music is a doorway to the soul. It can change one’s mood and even one’s consciousness in just a moment. When used as a tool to uplift, it can be a great ally in our spiritual lives.

“Because man himself is an expression of the
Creative Word, sound has the most potent and immediate effect on him, offering a way to remembrance of his divine origin.”
—Paramhansa Yogananda

(kirtan- devotional chanting and singing)

Kirtan are usually held the first Friday of each month.  Please check our calendar for upcoming dates and times.

Calm your mind, heal your heart, deepen your awareness of the divine within. The sacred sounds of chanting transform your consciousness almost effortlessly. Stress is forgotten. Joy is remembered.

Join us in an evening of sacred chanting together. Most chants are simple to learn, so you’ll be able to join in easily. We’ll sing many of Yogananda and Kriyananda’s beautiful chants in English, as well as some traditional Indian chants, accompanied by harmonium and guitar.

Whether you like to sing yourself, or prefer to sit silently while others make a joyous sound around you, you’ll enjoy these bi-monthly chanting sessions.
