A non-sectarian approach to spirituality
Paramhansa Yogananda taught meditation as a scientific approach to understanding ourselves as human beings, as well as understanding deeper, mystical truths about God and the nature of reality. Yogananda taught meditation freely to all, regardless of their spiritual inclinations to Mahatma Gandhi, agnostics, and Catholic priests alike, as well as those interested in the spiritual tradition of Yoga. Proven Effective Learn to Meditate Friday
Night Meditations Engaged in conflict and challenging times, each one of us longs to do something to help. Great saints of all religions have said that real change on earth comes with a change in consciousness. As individuals, we can make a difference by uplifting our own consciousness then sending out the vibrations of wisdom, peace, and Divine Will using specific prayer techniques given by Paramhansa Yogananda. Join us at 6 pm with chanting and meditation. (Yogananda said, "chanting is half the battle" on the spiritual path). Stay and let the vibrations of peace expand within and all around you. We'll meditate till 9 pm with chanting at 7 pm and 8 pm so you can quietly come or leave if you wish.

Kriya Yoga MeditationThe technique of Kriya Yoga is given by initiation after one has established a regular practice of meditation, is utilizing the techniques of energization, Hong Sau and Aum Technique (see below), and has taken discipleship. Paramhansa Yogananda spoke of the Kriya technique as the "Jet airplane route" to self-realization. Its power to accelerate the individual's spiritual life is made possible by a refinement of the nervous system as the result of regular and deep meditation and by the Grace of the Guru. The results are deeply fulfilling. While there are specific classes one needs to take, the actual period of preparation does in fact vary with the individual according to their needs and an inner acknowledgement of readiness in their hearts. To the best of our ability we try to facilitate this process by providing on-going classes, satsangs, and meditations in support of one's practices. If you are hearing of Kriya for the first time you will enjoy Paramhansa Yogananda's overview of this practice in his book Autobiography of a Yogi as well as the chapter by the same name in Swami Kriyananda's book The Path. If you have questions please check with Maria or Alice at the Ananda Center.
